We are looking to add a Full-Time Commercial Building Engineer to our Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland
Key Responsibilities
- Independently operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the building’s MEP, HVAC, alarm, security, and related building systems, including equipment serving the seven-story commercial facility and surrounding grounds.
- Perform and document daily preventive maintenance in accordance with established schedules, ensuring all equipment and systems operate safely and efficiently.
- Provide hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of the building’s pneumatic HVAC system, including manual thermostats, compressed-air controls, and ceiling-mounted dampers.
- Strong hands-on experience with pneumatic HVAC systems is required.
- Maintain and monitor major building equipment, including HVAC systems, cooling towers, generators, and associated mechanical equipment.
- Maintain accurate daily records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and completed work, with documentation provided to the Director’s Office.
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance contracts and outside vendors, including obtaining quotes and coordinating services or materials as needed.
- Coordinate building projects and services such as painting, equipment moves, repairs, and other facility-related work.
- Work closely with vendors, contractors, building management, and tenants to address service requests and ensure timely resolution of building-related issues.
- Respond to tenant requests and building operational needs while maintaining a high standard of customer service and professionalism.
- Ensure building systems and equipment are maintained in accordance with applicable safety requirements, manufacturer recommendations, and established facility procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience as a Commercial Building Engineer is required; experience should be in a Building Engineer role rather than primarily as a Maintenance Technician.
5 years minimum of experience with programmable logic controllers
5 years minimum of experience with mechanical systems
Must have Pneumatic HVAC systems experience (applicants who do not have this experience will not be considered)
