Description
The HR Coordinator serves as the on-site HR presence for Carlton Farms, built around three core pillars: recruiting, general HR support, and safety support. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role well suited for someone who enjoys recruiting, staying close to safety and compliance on the floor, and working within the daily rhythm of a production operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruiting
- Lead full-cycle recruiting for entry-level production roles, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and coordinating offers.
- Support new hire onboarding and ensure proper documentation, including I-9 completion.
Safety
- Provide basic workers’ compensation support, including completing and submitting Form 801 for reported injuries.
- Support the site safety program for an 85-person facility, in partnership with Operations, including tracking training completion and assisting with safety meetings.
General HR Support
- Track and administer daily employee attendance, following up with employees and supervisors on attendance policy compliance.
- Serve as backup for payroll processing, ensuring continuity when the primary payroll contact is unavailable.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS and personnel files.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding attendance, timekeeping, and general HR inquiries.
- Support HR initiatives focused on employee engagement and communication.
- Prepare basic reports related to recruiting activity, attendance, and headcount tracking.
- Provide support for special projects and other HR functions as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in HR, recruiting, or administrative support, ideally in an agricultural or production environment.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Google); experience with HRIS systems a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Comfortable working in a production environment and wearing required PPE when needed.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with frequent interaction on the production floor of a USDA-inspected pork processing facility.
- Regular presence in harvest and processing areas, with exposure to the sights, sounds, and smells associated with livestock slaughter and meat processing.
- Exposure to refrigerated and cold-storage environments, loud noises, and production equipment.
- Required to wear PPE appropriate to a meat processing environment, including in areas where animals are harvested.
