Position Summary
• The College of Business invites applications for a tenure-track position in Accounting. The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in Accounting or a closely related field and will contribute to teaching, scholarship, advising, and service within an ACBSP-accredited, student-centered academic environment.
• The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, student success, and the ability to collaborate with faculty and staff, as well as the ability to teach foundational and upper-level accounting courses while integrating current accounting practices, emerging technologies, and innovative approaches into accounting education and professional practice.
• This is an in-person instructional position.
Responsibilities
• Teach undergraduate courses across foundational, intermediate, and advanced areas of accounting, including financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, auditing, taxation, accounting information systems, and other business courses as assigned.
• Maintain regular in-person office hours and demonstrate accessibility, responsive, and engagement with our students.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate students and organizations as assigned.
• Submit grades and other required academic documentation in a timely manner.
• Engage in scholarly and professional activities consistent with the expectations of Dillard University and the College of Business.
• Participate in curriculum development, course assessment, and continuous improvement efforts aligned with ACBSP accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with faculty to support program development, student success, and the ongoing enhancement of the accounting curriculum.
• Contribute to departmental, college, and university service through committee work, student engagement, and other institutional initiatives.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain disciplinary expertise and instructional effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D., DBA, or other appropriate doctorate in Accounting or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate accounting courses.
• Professional experience in accounting, auditing, taxation, financial reporting, or a related field.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty across disciplines and contribute to departmental, college, and university service.
• Commitment to fostering a student-centered learning environment that promotes academic excellence, engagement, and student success.
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure or other relevant professional certification (e.g., CMA, CIA, or CISA).
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Evidence of scholarly activity or professional engagement consistent with the expectations of a teaching-focused institution.
• Experience teaching a variety of undergraduate accounting courses, including introductory and advanced topics.
• Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives in support of accreditation requirements.
• Demonstrated success in advising, mentoring, and supporting student academic and professional development.
• Experience teaching at an accredited college or university.
