POSITION SUMMARY
The limited term (approx. 2 months) IT Support Technician provides day-to-day technical support to Gerber employees by assisting with hardware, software, printer, and workstation issues. This role is responsible for configuring and maintaining Windows-based computers, installing software, troubleshooting technical problems, and supporting the North America IT team with a variety of help desk functions. This is an onsite position based in Woodridge, Illinois.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, printers, and other end-user technology issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows-based computers, laptops, and peripheral devices.
- Install, update, and troubleshoot business software applications.
- Assist the North America IT team with diagnosing and resolving hardware and connectivity issues.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics on laptops, printers, scanners, and related equipment.
- Set up new user workstations and assist with equipment deployment.
- Document support requests and communicate status updates to users and the IT team.
- Communicate professionally with employees, managers, vendors, and business partners to resolve technical issues.
- Support Office 365 applications and assist users with common functionality questions.
- Maintain an organized workspace while handling multiple support requests in a timely manner.
- Flexibility to perform other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in an IT help desk or desktop support environment is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Windows-based personal computers.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware including laptops, printers, scanners, and peripheral devices.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve common technical issues independently.
- Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrates initiative, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
- Reliable, dependable, and committed to providing exceptional internal customer support.
- Ability to lift and move computer equipment up to approximately 30 pounds as needed.
