State Farm will open a roughly 400,000-square-foot customer service center near Perimeter Mall, where it will employ 500.
The nation’s largest property and casualty insurance company insurance will provide sales, service and claims processing at the facility, which is expected to open next year.
The offices will be at 64 Perimeter Center East (the former Philips Electronics building) and 66 Perimeter Center East, a State Farm spokesman Justin Tomczak said.
The Perimeter Center East complex was a suitable location because of its proximity to Interstates and public transportation.
The 400,000 square foot lease at Perimeter Center East positions State Farm for further potential workforce expansion. The insurer could more than double the 500-employee workforce at that location, given the typical 250-square-foot-per-office worker ratio.
The State Farm expansion is fueled by an increase in business.
The center will handle customer service issues, including providing quotes to potential customers, helping customers begin the recovery process after experiencing a claim, and providing after-business support. The new jobs will include clerical, technical and management positions.
State Farm is already Georgia’s largest insurance company. In October 2011, Atlanta Business Chronicle reported the company planned to add 400 jobs at its 56-acre Johns Creek, Ga., campus.
In February 2012, the Chronicle reported the company's plans to hire about 150 statewide. The majority of the hiring was to be at the Johns Creek campus, which is the headquarters of the company’s Southern region, as State Farm centralized its auto insurance and fire underwriting operations. |
